How are they going? Do you sell a lot of $5-$10 cards, or a few $20 cards? Are they impulse buys or do people come in and ask for them first?

Do you, as a consumer / gift receiver, like to receive gift cards for restaurants?

I know a lot of concepts that push the heck out of gift cards and I think they're great. But I'm really interested in the psychology of giving these things. I don't think we do a good job of marketing and selling them because, frankly, I don't think we understand their role in the gift-giving scheme of things.

Let me know your thoughts - both as a seller and as a receiver of cards.
